Man Utd & Liverpool stars named in latest Dutch squad

Two players from Manchester United, Liverpool, Southampton and Tottenham have been named in the latest Dutch 36-man national team squad selection.

The other representatives from the Premier League are Maarten Stekelenburg of Everton and Patrick van Aanholt of Sunderland.

Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder has been selected for the Netherlands national team intentional game against Greece on September 1 in Eindhoven and meet Sweden in Stockholm five days later in their first World Cup qualifier.

Sneijder is the sole representative from the Turkish Super Lig in the side and will be joined in midfield by the likes of Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum and Roma’s Kevin Strootman.

Robin Van Persie not selected by Netherlands boss Danny Blind. The 33-year-old has scored 50 goals in 101 appearances for his country but failed to make the call up.

The Netherlands will be hoping to do better this time around as they finished fourth in the Euro 2016 qualification group.

The Dutch side will however, be without assistant manager Dick Advocaat who has now taken charge of Van Persie’s Fenerbahce.
