After it was confirmed that Wayne Rooney would start on the bench for England against Slovenia this week, his wife Coleen passionately defended him on Twitter.
The 30-year-old has come under constant pressure in recent times, with his underwhelming performances resulting in him losing his place in the Manchester United starting line-up this season.
Having now also been dropped to the bench by interim England boss Gareth Southgate, the pressure will only continue to build on Rooney, who will have to prove in the coming weeks that he can still play an important role for club and country moving forward.
Rooney was booed by a minority of supporters during the win over Malta at Wembley on Saturday evening, and it appears as though Coleen has ultimately been left fed up and has gotten some feelings off her chest by slamming Wayne’s critics.
Despite the disappointing nature of his performances, for an individual that has been a leading player in English football for many years it’s undoubtedly upsetting for his family to deal with the criticism and insults coming from supporters.
As a result, it’s hardly surprising that his partner has been forced to come out in defence of him.
Love the way Anyone & Everyone has to have an Opinion. Lighten up, life is short, give people a break. Some forget others have feelings too.
