Alan Shearer laid into Arsenal after their disappointing display in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners needed a late equaliser from substitute Olivier Giroud to rescue a point after producing a lethargic and poor performance across the board.
On the positive side, Arsene Wenger’s men remain unbeaten since the opening weekend of the season and have claimed draws against Tottenham Hotspur and United despite not performing to their best ability.
However, critics will rightly slam their inability to make a statement of intent by beating one of their direct rivals and laying a marker down for the rest of the campaign.
Shearer evidently falls into the latter category and was left massively underwhelmed by Arsenal as they toiled for most of the game in Manchester.
“They were very poor for the vast majority of the game, they looked very leggy, very tired, very sloppy in fact and a lot of their passes went astray,” he said on Match of the Day.
“It wasn’t just three or four players, it was every single player, that started for Arsenal today I thought had a poor game.”
His criticism didn’t end there either, as two Arsenal players in particular were singled out with Theo Walcott coming under fire for not tracking Juan Mata’s run before the Spaniard gave the hosts the lead.
Further, Mesut Ozil failed to deliver again in a big game and it didn’t go unnoticed by the former Newcastle United striker.
“Even this guy Ozil, who has been brilliant for all the season really, looked really tired and wasn’t up for it today and it was mistake after mistake.”
Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night before entertaining Jack Wilshere and Bournemouth at the Emirates next weekend.
Given their traditional troubles in November, Wenger will be desperate to see them improve from a performance perspective which in turn will more than likely lead to positive results to keep their momentum going.
