Real Madrid open negotiations to sign Chelsea star who was reportedly close to joining them in the summer transfer window

Real Madrid are in negotiations to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, as reported by the Express.

Courtois had a season to forget last time around, but has been back to his formidable best under the stewardship of Antonio Conte. The Belgian has kept nine clean sheets in his last 11 Premier League appearances. He has also conceded just two goals in that period.

Now that that Courtois has found his form once more, it appears to be attracting attention from La Liga giants Real Madrid. The Express cite Onda Cero in claiming that Los Blancos have already entered negotiations with Chelsea over the possibility of signing Courtois.

They note that Courtois was close to joining Real in the summer, a move that no doubt would have caused waves in the Spanish capital due to his affiliation with Atletico.

The Chelsea faithful will no doubt be hoping that they can keep hold of Courtois, who at 24-years-old looks capable of playing between the posts for the Blues for at least the next decade.
