Panic at Manchester United as Jose Mourinho increasingly keen on PSG job, but Premier League rival also a leading contender

Manchester United are reportedly growing concerned that Jose Mourinho is serious about leaving the club to take up an offer from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Sun, Mourinho has held talks with the Ligue 1 giants and is tempted by the offer to leave what is proving a challenging position at Old Trafford due to the rise of Manchester City under his old nemesis Pep Guardiola.

Mourinho only joined United last season and enjoyed instant success with three trophy victories in his first year in charge, guiding the Red Devils to wins in the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League.

However, his side could only finish 6th in the Premier League and look no closer to winning one of the major honours this year after falling eight points behind leaders City at the weekend.

Mourinho’s big-game tactics came under scrutiny again as his side looked distinctly second-best against Chelsea, where they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

The Italian tactician is also having a difficult season this year and various recent reports have suggested he could be on his way out by the end of the season at the very latest.

Don Balon, meanwhile, have claimed PSG star Neymar could be keen on working under Mourinho, and that an upgrade in the managerial position could be essential for persuading the Brazilian to stay at the club for the long run.
