Real Madrid not giving up on ambitious £178million transfer deal, believe club could be forced to sell

Real Madrid are reportedly still prepared to try and sign Kylian Mbappe in next summer’s transfer window despite Paris Saint-Germain snapping him up on loan this year.

The France international moved from Monaco to PSG at the end of August, with BBC Sport reporting that PSG had the option to sign him permanently as part of his loan deal.

ESPN claimed that Real Madrid were interested in Mbappe this summer but the move broke down for a number of reasons, including Gareth Bale’s stubborn refusal not to leave the Bernabeu and free up space for the youngster.

Now, however, AS report that Madrid are set on selling Bale next summer and are keen to land Mbappe as his replacement, with the club willing to pay in excess of £178million for the 18-year-old.

PSG’s Kylian Mbappe remains a transfer target for Real Madrid

Mbappe scored 26 goals for Monaco last season as they won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals, and he’s started brightly for PSG with six goals in his first 12 games.

Regarded as one of the best young players on the planet, Mbappe would certainly fit the bill as a ‘Galactico’ signing, but PSG will surely be the favourites to complete his purchase on a permanent basis.

Various reports have suggested Financial Fair Play could come back to haunt the French giants, but they would surely look to cash in on other members of their squad instead of losing a key player like Mbappe so quickly.
