Liverpool face real transfer concern, key figure labelled ‘great fit’ for interested giants

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Liverpool are facing the very real threat of losing midfielder Emre Can for nothing.

An agreement has yet to be reached between the two parties to extend his stay at Anfield, and so as it stands, he could very well be moving on next summer.

That will be a major blow for Liverpool, as they’ve seen the 23-year-old German international significantly develop under Jurgen Klopp, and with such a long way to go in his career, he’ll only get better.

Evidently, Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has seen something in Can, as he has spoken publicly about how he believes he’d be a great addition for the Turin giants, who have previously been linked with a move for the Liverpool man, as per the report below.

“Maybe Juve can close a deal in January,” he’s quoted as saying, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

“They need someone like him. He has great physical strength, and would be a great fit alongside Sami Khedira and Miralem Pjanic in the centre of the pitch.”

With nothing to stop Can from opening talks with clubs outside of England next month, Liverpool will undoubtedly be growing more and more concerned that they could be losing a key piece in their plans moving forward.

As per The Telegraph, they’ve already secured a deal to sign midfielder Naby Keita for £48m next summer, and so perhaps that is a factor in why they’re remaining calm in contract negotiations with Can as they have reinforcements arriving either way.

Nevertheless, Klopp surely wants to build a strong squad and while adding players is great, he has to keep the current important individuals too and Can arguably falls into that category.
