Attacking Arsenal star will be the perfect signing at Everton claims Wayne Rooney, striker urged to leave the Emirates

Wayne Rooney has encouraged Olivier Giroud to leave Arsenal and instead join Everton to avoid being under-appreciated.

A report from the Sun has suggested that Rooney eyes Giroud as a perfect fit for the Toffees with the Englishman suggesting that Everton could do with an attacking addition to strengthen their squad heading into the second half of the season.

The reported comments from Rooney state, “I think we could do with another striker in” quickly adding, “The one player for me who has to start is Olivier Giroud. He scores goals and every time he comes on he scores, he’s a handful and hard to play against.”

The report claims that Rooney is clearly pushing for Giroud to move to Everton in a quest for more game-time with the Merseyside club reported to have already made approaches for the Frenchman in the summer.

14 of Olivier Giroud's 15 Premier League appearances this season have come from the bench.

14 of Olivier Giroud’s 15 Premier League appearances this season have come from the bench.

Since the summer arrival of Giroud’s national team-mate Alexandre Lacazette, the star has certainly struggled to find himself consistently in Wenger’s starting eleven at Arsenal.

Giroud has made 15 appearances in the Premier League this season but only one single appearance has come from kick-off with the other 14 all coming form the bench.

The French star has established himself as somewhat of a super-sub in recent seasons and last year made 18 of his 29 Premier League appearances from the bench. Despite this Giroud was able to register 12 goals in last season’s campaign.

Perhaps given the arrival of Lacazette and Wenger’s tendency to use Giroud as a sub rather than a starter, the star could be looking for a move away. Further, Wayne Rooney clearly believes that Everton could be the club to prize Giroud away from Arsenal.
