The transfer was announced by Barca’s official club website at around 7pm this evening, as the saga that drew a lot of fans in over the summer finally comes to an end.
The BBC are reporting that the 25-year-old could end up costing the Spanish side £142M, something that will see the former Liverpool man be one of the most expensive players of all time.
According to Barcelona’s website, Coutinho will sign a 5 and a half year deal with the club, with the player’s release clause sitting pretty at a total of €400M.
The player has shown through his time with Jurgen Klopp’s side that he is capable of producing some truly magical moments, and it should be a delight for Barca fans to finally see a deal for the player announced.
Coutinho’s ability on the ball should see him be able to link up with players such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez with ease, with the Brazilian even touted by some as a potential replacement for current icon Andres Iniesta.
