New Chelsea signing Olivier Giroud has hailed the club’s recent successes following his deadline day move from London rivals Arsenal.
The France international completed his move from the Gunners to the west London side, signing an 18-month deal in the process according to the Mirror.
The news outlet have also reported in the player’s praise for the club following his move, with Giroud saying that “they have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years. It’s a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I’m looking forward to playing.”
During his time with Arsenal, Giroud managed to become a fan favourite at the Emirates, with the player establishing a cult following in the process.
Since his move to Arsenal in the summer of 2012, the Frenchman managed to amass a total of 105 goals and 41 assists in 253 games, a decent record.
Giroud should be welcome signing for the Blues, as the Frenchman makes a good back-up for out-of-form Spanish forward Alvaro Morata, who joined in the summer from Real Madrid.
The former Arsenal star’s hold up play and physical prowess has seen some fans label the player as one of the best target men in the Premier League.
