10 best Premier League signings of the season: Mohamed Salah joined by two Liverpool new-boys, Manchester United & Arsenal stars also feature

3) Nemanja Matic (Manchester United)

In third place it’s another Manchester United signing, with Nemanja Matic a real bright spark in a largely disappointing campaign.

The Serbia international was bizarrely allowed to leave Chelsea for United in the summer and has slotted in perfectly as Jose Mourinho’s midfield general.

Chelsea won’t believe they made such a big mistake, with Matic playing a key role for one of their biggest rivals while their replacement signings in midfield have all flopped spectacularly.

2) Ederson (Manchester City)

Not bad for a goalkeeper, eh? Ederson has undoubtedly been a world class addition for Manchester City, even managing to stand out in a side that dominates possession and plays such stunning attacking football.

Quite simply, the Brazil international is both a fantastic shot-stopper and quality footballer when he gets the ball to feet, which is important in Guardiola’s sides.

Pep might’ve got it badly wrong with Claudio Bravo last season, but Ederson deserves his place among the top Premier League signings of the season.

1) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Top scorer in the Premier League. Most goals ever by a player in their debut season for Liverpool. More goals than former Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard in the last two seasons put together.

And somehow Mohamed Salah cost just £34m – Liverpool have done one of the truly outstanding pieces of business of the last decade here.

Surely set to win the Golden Boot and quite possibly PFA Player of the Year, Salah has been a joy to watch and could yet fire Liverpool to Champions League glory if he and the rest of the team carry on as they are at the moment.
