Man Utd’s new-look XI loaded with £343m’s worth of talent: How Mourinho could line up next season with exciting forward transfer + Pogba replacement

Kylian Mbappe

Finally, the Daily Mirror claim United have been in touch with the advisers of PSG striker Kylian Mbappe as they pursue another ambitious transfer.

The France international could cost £86m plus Anthony Martial, which seems ideal business for the Red Devils in a deal worth a total of around £166m as the Mirror state Martial is valued at around £80m.

Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United would be a real statement signing

Martial has struggled at United in recent times and Mbappe would surely be a huge upgrade to give United the kind of spark they’ve lacked for some time up front, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford unconvincing in the second half of last season.

In total, that would be the equivalent of £343m spent on Fred, Boateng, Verratti and Mbappe, though as noted, if Pogba and Martial were to move as per the reports from the Sun and the Mirror, it would bring that actual spending down.

And here’s a look at how the four of them could look in Mourinho’s XI next season…

Man Utd XI for next season if they land their top transfer targets

While doubts will remain over players like Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw as full-backs, this looks a big improvement on the 2017/18 squad.

With Sanchez hopefully more settled after a summer off and a proper pre-season, and a more balanced midfield behind the likes of Mbappe and Romelu Lukaku in attack, this team surely has almost everything needed to mount a stronger challenge to Manchester City in 2018/19.
