England’s hopes for a second World Cup final since 1966 ended in heartbreak last night as they lost to Croatia in the semi-finals.

The Three Lions took the lead after five minutes courtesy of a wonderful free-kick from Kieran Trippier, however, they conceded a goal in the final 20 minutes and again in extra-time as Croatia’s dominance in the middle of the park began to tell.

Gareth Southgate’s men had chances in the first-half to extend on their lead, however, they couldn’t capitalise on their momentum.

Luka Modric’s side will now take on France after they beat Belgium in the other semi-final, courtesy of a headed goal from Samuel Umtiti.

Therefore, England and Belgium will meet for the second time in the third-place play-off on Saturday afternoon in Saint Petersburg in the penultimate fixture of the tournament.

As per The Telegraph, Kieran Trippier is a injury doubt after he came off in extra-time.

The game will also see Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku battle it out for the Golden Boot.

When is England vs Belgium and what time is kick-off?

The third place play-off game will kick-off at 3pm (5pm local time) on Saturday 14 July.
