Lionel Messi has put a halt to Barcelona star Paco Alcacer securing a move away from the Camp Nou this summer.
This is according to Don Balon, who state that the Argentine superstar doesn’t want to see the player leave this summer, and that because of this the Spaniard is set to stay for the upcoming season.
Don Balon have stated in the past that Barca are after €30M for the Spanish international, however this information now seems irrelevant following this revelation from Messi.
This decision to keep Alcacer may be a smart one, as the player proved he is capable of banging in the goals for Valencia during his time with Los Che.
It was clear for all to see last season that one of Barcelona’s big weaknesses was their failure to rotate, with the players’ fatigue playing a big part in their exit from the Champions League against Roma.
Keeping Alcacer will avoid the need for the club to sign another striker this summer, meaning that the club can focus on bringing in more midfield reinforcements.
With Andres Iniesta now gone, the club need more quality in the centre of park, something that should be their absolute priority.
