Real Madrid set to rival Barcelona in race to snag transfer of €40M Brazilian star

Real Madrid are set to go to war with fierce rivals Barcelona in the race to sign Brazil and Porto left-back Alex Telles.

This is according to Diario Gol, who note that both Spanish giants are in for the Porto star, and that the player’s deal with the Portuguese giants contains a release clause of €40M.

The report also notes that Barcelona could be tempted to bring in Telles as a back-up to Jordi Alba should they manage to be able to get him for lower than the €40M release clause that’s in his contract.

Barcelona and Real are set to rival each other in the race for Telles this summer

Telles would be a fine signing for either side, with the Brazilian showcasing just what he’s all about for Porto these past few seasons.

The season just gone, Telles was absolutely out of this world, as the 25-year-old managed to clock up 14 assists and three goals in 30 league appearances, a sensational record for a left-back.

In total, the Brazilian has scored five and assisted 30 in 90 appearances for the Portuguese side, meaning that he directly contributes more than goal every three games, a ridiculous return for a defender.

Telles would be a great player to replace either Alba or Marcelo once the duos time with the Spanish giants comes to an end, and his signing could be one that the clubs thank themselves for making in long into the future.
