Lionel Messi wants Barcelona youth star in first team squad this season after youngster’s impressive display in Spurs draw

Despite playing the majority of the game with a side that aren’t first team players, Barcelona still managed to impress in their first game of pre-season against Spurs on Sunday. 

The Blaugrana threw away a 2-0 goal lead in the second half as they ended up having to rely on penalties to overcome Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

A lot of Barca youngster took their chance to impress fans, with one star in particular catching the eye of Lionel Messi: Juan Miranda.

As per Don Balon, Messi highlighted the youngster as the player that impressed him the most in his side’s draw with Spurs, with the report also noting that he has informed the club he wants to see Miranda included in the first team at the Nou Camp this year.

It’s fair to say that Miranda was certainly one of Barca’s best players in their match against Spurs, with the defender often proving to be hard for opposition wingers to get past.

Miranda also managed to show off his fantastic passing ability as well, as the Spaniard’s superb long-range ball found Rafinha, whose pass set up Arthur Melo for his side’s second goal of the night.

With Lucas Digne failing to impress fans since his arrival from PSG, it may be wise for Barca to listen to Messi and give Miranda the chance to show off his talents in the first team this year.

And who knows, the club may just have an heir to Jordi Alba’s throne if things end up going their way.
