Unai Emery confirms which three Arsenal players could still leave this month

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been busy stamping his mark on his squad this summer, but there could yet be exits to trim his group down.

The Spanish tactician was appointed as Arsene Wenger’s successor at the start of the summer, and in turn he has been busy signing new players to suit his needs in the upcoming campaign.

Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have all arrived at the Emirates, offering more solidity in the defensive phase to complement what Arsenal already possess in attack.

In turn, it would appear as though Emery has struck the right balance in his line-up, but in terms of fringe players who could arguably be considered surplus to requirements, he has confirmed a trio of Gunners stars who could be leaving north London this month still.

“Today, we had a meeting with the players to close all the possibilities to bring more players,” he is quoted as saying by The Sun.

“We only have three players – Carl Jenkinson, David Ospina and Joel Campbell – with the possibility to leave.”

The transfer deadline has passed for English clubs to sign players, and so Emery is seemingly content to offload these three and not have to sign more new faces to replace them.

With the window still open for most of Europe, it remains to be seen whether or not any clubs swoop for the individuals in question.

What is clear though is that with Leno joining Petr Cech in a battle for the No.1 spot between the posts, Ospina appears to have been relegated down the pecking order and so a move elsewhere makes sense.

As it does for Jenkinson and Campbell, as with the fierce competition for places now at Arsenal, it’s questionable as to whether either will feature regularly under Emery this season.
