Real Madrid are reportedly being offered the transfer of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for a discount £80million fee.
According to Don Balon, Los Blancos have been given a major edge in this particular transfer battle as they mull over paying Lazio’s asking price for the Serbia international.
The report suggests Lazio are prepared to agree to this special arrangement as Milinkovic-Savic himself wants a move to Real Madrid despite having other suitors who’d be willing to pay more.
Goal have also suggested Madrid would be in pole position for the 23-year-old this summer, with Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain mentioned as other contenders.
It would be intriguing to see a battle between Real and Barca for Milinkovic-Savic, with both La Liga contenders arguably in need of a marquee signing of that calibre in midfield.
While Madrid could do with a long-term replacement for key playmaker Luka Modric, Barcelona could do with someone to fill the considerable void left by Andres Iniesta, who has already departed the Nou Camp.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has also been linked as a midfield target for the Catalan giants by the Telegraph and others.
