Pundit gives take on reason why key Arsenal star hasn’t agreed new Gunners deal yet

Former Spurs midfielder-turned pundit Jermaine Jenas believes that Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey hasn’t signed a new deal yet because the player believes he’s not being used in the right position for the Gunners.

The Welsh star’s contract expires in the summer as per the Mirror, and Jenas has offered his insight on the Ramsey situation in an interview with BT Sport.

Speaking on the matter, the former England star stated “I think he wants to play higher up the pitch and I get the feeling it was more Ramsey’s decision than Emery’s”

“The fact Ramsey hasn’t signed – you can’t tell me there has not been a conversation along the lines of ‘what is I that you want?’ Because he isn’t a greedy person. I think Ramsey just wants to play in the position he wants to be. I think he wants to play higher up, but I’m not sure if it suits him”

Ramsey made his debut more than 10 years ago for Arsenal in a Champions League qualify against FC Twente, and since then, has gone on to make 333 appearances for the Gunners.

During his time at the Emirates, the Welsh international has lifted the FA Cup on three occasions – scoring the winning goals in both the 2014 and 2017 finals.

While the midfielder remains an important member of the Arsenal squad, his performances in recent years have faded, leaving Arsenal fans wondering whether or not his showings on the pitch warrant a new deal at the club.

Now Arsenal find themselves in a conundrum where they can either sign the midfielder to a new contract or let the Welshman leave on a free – if so, it is possible that the 27-year-old could sign for a fellow Premier League side, which could leave Gunners fans very unhappy.
