Liverpool face possible headache over key international trio ahead of Tottenham meeting

Liverpool could reportedly consider alternative arrangements to rush three key figures back from international duty so that they can feature against Tottenham.

It’s a familiar situation for Jurgen Klopp as he and the club have previously had to deal with a similar circumstance with Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho in the past.

Now, The Mirror claim that the Merseyside giants could book a private jet to bring back Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson from international duty next month as they risk being unavailable for the important clash with Tottenham on September 15.

Brazil face USA and El Salvador in the space of four days on September 8 and 12, and so that in itself will surely be an issue in terms of fatigue and travelling for the three players in question.

However, that of course then only gives them a matter of 48 hours to get back to England and prepare for the game against Spurs, which is a far from ideal scenario to be in.

Given Liverpool have performed pretty well without Fabinho thus far, perhaps his potential absence won’t be so much of a concern.

In contrast, Firmino will be key as part of Klopp’s preferred trident and Alisson has kept three clean sheets in three games so far and will be desperate to avoid seeing that consistency broken up by being forced to miss a game.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen how Liverpool attempt to get round it and if Klopp will have the Brazilian stars at his disposal to face Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

He will certainly hope that they’re able to return and get in a training session to perhaps at least feature for some part of the encounter as the Reds look to continue their solid start to the campaign and lay down a marker to be considered genuine Premier League title contenders this season.
