Of course, you can’t assume a signing is done until the player is pictured signing the contract and hoisting the club scarf over their head, but it does feel like Raphael Varane to Man United is as good as done.
Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation, and it looks like United fans can expect the signing to be wrapped up early next week:
Raphaël Varane update. He’s planning to fly to Manchester earlier next week [should be Monday] to complete his move as Manchester United player. ?? #MUFC
Medical and contract signing are also scheduled next week, then Varane will be unveiled as new signing after Sancho.

The only major concern would be the medical as sometimes a previously unknown problem can crop up, but Real Madrid have a strong medical department and he’s played in at least 40 matches for four consecutive seasons so it would be a major shock if any issues happened there.
The Premier League season kicks off for United on the 14th of August against Leeds United to it’s a great game for him to make his debut in, and hopefully he would have enough time to settle and gel with his teammates if the deal is completed next week.
