Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

According to a report from Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi (h/t Express), Manchester United and Chelsea could be involved in a bidding war to sign the 26-year-old defender.

Apparently, Inter Milan could sell the player for a fee of around €50-60 million and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League duo are prepared to fork out that kind of money to secure the services of the Dutchman.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key player for club and country and he could prove to be a superb acquisition for both Premier League clubs.

Manchester United need to add more depth to their right-back position and Dumfries will compete with Diogo Dalot for the starting berth at Old Trafford. On the other hand, Reece James is sidelined with an injury and Graham Potter needs to add more quality to the right-back department.

However, Barzaghi adds that Tottenham Hotspur are involved in the transfer race as well and the London club could look to offer cash for Dumfries along with Emerson Royal.

The 26-year-old defender is on the radar of German champions Bayern Munich as well and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

The 26-year-old has proven his quality in the Italian league and he could be open to taking up a new challenge in the Premier League now.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea would represent an excellent move for the player and it would allow him to showcase his qualities at a higher level.
