Liverpool are looking to add more depth to the defensive unit by signing Denzel Dumfries at the end of the season.

The player has a £21 million release clause in his contract, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for the Premier League club.

Dumfries has also been linked with Manchester United.

Liverpool could use Denzel Dumfries

They need more depth in the right back department, and signing the 30-year-old Netherlands International for a nominal fee would be ideal. He has the quality and the experience to help Liverpool improve.

Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley have struggled with injury problems this season, and Liverpool needs more depth in the full-back areas. According to The Times, Liverpool are aware of the defender’s release clause.

It remains to be seen whether they decide to come forward with an offer to get the deal done.

According to the report, Liverpool were also interested in signing the Netherlands defender during the January window.

Dumfries set for Premier League move?

Dumfries has proven himself in Italy and for his country. He also has the technical attributes for Premier League football. He will help Liverpool at both ends of the pitch. At 30, this could be his final opportunity to play in the Premier League for an elite club. Dumfries will be attracted to the idea of joining Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the Premier League giants have the financial muscle to get the deal done as well. The experienced Netherlands international could prove a bargain at the reported fee. If he manages to hit the ground running in the Premier League, the deal could look like a masterstroke.

Liverpool have a strong Dutch contingent at the club, and that could be an added incentive for Dumfries to join them.
