Man City take transfer position on 23-year-old ace as La Liga giants circle

Pep Guardiola’s Man City side remain the team to beat both domestically and in Europe this season.

The reigning Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League holders have begun the 2023/24 campaign without any real sign of a hangover from last season.

That’s testament to Guardiola’s relentless drive for perfection for each and every player, no matter how high profile they are.

Though he’s been outshone on the goalscoring front by Erling Haaland, there’s no doubting Julian Alvarez’s importance to Pep’s talented squad.

He has four goals and three assists in nine Premier League games this season, per WhoScored, and three goals with one assist in two games (one as sub) in the Champions League, as if to evidence why he is an integral part of the City set-up.

To that end, it’s no real surprise as to why La Liga giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, would be showing a keen interest in a player who only recently signed a contract extension with City until 2028.

According to Football Insider, that commitment from both club and player will ensure that all offers from any club will be rebuffed. Very simply, the player is not for sale at any price.

That will be music to the ears of City fans and is also a real show of faith from the club.
