Talks between Roma and Chelsea may start soon, since Romelu Lukaku is said to wish to stay at the Italian club beyond this season.
The transfer amount needed to sign Lukaku permanently may be the topic of conversation between Chelsea and Roma, according to Fichajes.
The Italians will look for a lower price point that fits their budget, and the Belgian wants to remain in Rome. The Blues are ready to get rid of their expensive investment, that did not work out for the club.
The Lukaku drama between Inter Milan and Juventus last year was fortunately advantageous to AS Roma. After intense competition between the two teams for the striker, Jose Mourinho persuaded the team to sign the 30-year-old Chelsea star on a loan basis.
Lukaku, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions, has been Roma’s main striker this season, so the transfer has paid well.
The Belgian wants to stay with Roma into the summer, but he is expected to return to Chelsea after the season.
Roma, on the other hand, won’t want to spend too much considering Chelsea’s demands of about €40 million last summer.
Since the Blues want to sell the Belgian striker and a few others in the summer, they are keen to recover as much of their investment in him as possible. As a result, there are expectations that they may lower the asking price, but not much.
