Newcastle United are looking to sign the Benfica defender Amar Dedic.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the 23-year-old defender has already agreed to personal terms with the Premier League club and will sign a new contract until 2031.
Dedic has previously been linked with Manchester City.

Newcastle will have to pay around €30-35 million in order to get the deal across the line. They are currently in advanced negotiations with Benfica over the 23-year-old defender. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can wrap up the move quickly.
They need more depth in the defensive unit, and Dedic could be an interesting option for them. However, they already have Tino Livramento at their disposal, who has been outstanding for the club and is joining them.
He is highly rated in the Premier League, and it would be quite surprising if Newcastle spent around €35 million on a defender who will be a backup option to Livramento. Unless Newcastle are planning to sell Livramento this summer, the move seems quite surprising.

Meanwhile, Dedic has played under the newly appointed Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle.
The pair worked together at Red Bull Salzburg. The opportunity to reunite with his former manager will be exciting for the 23-year-old defender. He has a strong relationship with Jaissle, and the newly appointed Newcastle manager will know all about the players as well. He should be able to settle into his system seamlessly and make an immediate impact. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Newcastle need multiple quality signings this summer if they want to have a successful season. They had a mediocre campaign last year, and they have already lost key players like Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, and Sandro Tonali.

I believe that the Saudis are like every venture reeling themselves in a bit ! the money that is getting spent at the moment is money brought in by player sales so they wont ever asset strip as they dont need to but i think this is the 1st phase of their plan to be self sufficient sold big names for relative big money (Bruno aside) but this is then enabling the club to spend what it has so buying young players now 3 to 4 years like stuer and toure especially will be sold for double or triple what we have just spent enabling us to keep ticking along but i dont think that we ever had a chance to be able to buy superior players the powers that be made sure of that so we will be forced to buy from the 2nd tier or 3rd tier of quality players and thats no dissing the players brought in thats just having the ability to be able to spend and compete thats been taken from us
