West Ham given boost in pursuit of Premier League striker

West Ham are hopeful they can win the race to sign Ivan Toney.

The Brentford striker is expected to be one of the summer’s big movers ahead of his contract expiring next year.

Although all of England’s top clubs have been linked with making a move, according to a recent report from Football Insider, West Ham have emerged as frontrunners.

And in a boost to their hopes of landing the 28-year-old England international, it’s been noted the Bees have dropped their asking price following the striker’s poor form.

Originally valued at around £70 million, Thomas Frank’s side are now expected to accept a lower offer to avoid losing the Englishman on a free transfer at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

For West Ham, this could be great news and with a change of manager on the horizon following confirmation David Moyes will be stepping down at the end of the season, the Hammers could be about to head in a new direction with a new manager and hitman leading the line.
