£15m Liverpool target edges ever nearer to move: Surely only a matter of time!

Even in a nothing friendly against the US last night, Gareth Barry showed what he can do, laying off a delicious pass to Stevie G, and given the latest comments from the Aston Villa man, it might be a regular combination next season?

Much admired Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry seems to be suggesting that he may be about to end his 11 year stint at Villa Park.
Barry said: “Will I be at Villa next season? That is something I’ve been speaking to the manager and chairman about. We’ve already had one meeting. Any sort of interest by a big club is flattering but I am still an Aston Villa player, I’ve got two years left of my contract and until some sort of bid is accepted, or the manager tells me otherwise, there is no decision to make. No decision has been made because no bid has been accepted.” (various)

Let’s face it, it does seem that the Aston Villa skipper looks more than likely to have played his last game for the Midlands side, and it does look like Rafa has the edge over other bidders, so I think it would take a brave man to bet against the 27-year-old wearing a Liverpool shirt come August. What do Villa fans think about the Barry-gate saga and do Liverpool fans feel that the England man will be a good fit for the Merseyside outfit?
