Aston Villa are demanding a higher price from Liverpool for Gareth Barry than Liverpool’s initial £10m bid. Martin O’Neill’s valuation is closer to £20m. Any bid could also include a potential swap deal involving Scott Carson or John Arne Riise. (The Guardian)
I think this whole deal will be completed soon enough, understandably Martin O’Neill wants to make as much as he can from any deal that occurs. I would have thought that a player-plus-cash deal would suit the club better, especially as both Carson and Riise still have a great deal to offer and, conveniently for Benitez, both players don’t have much of a future at the club. So do Liverpool fans think Barry is worth the wait and would Villa fans rather take the money or the cash plus players swap?
