Liverpool legend sticking around at Cardiff for final shot of glory
by Jon on July 8th, 2008Robbie Fowler, known affectionately as God during his time at Liverpool, is set to sign a new one-year deal with Cardiff City, according to BBC Sport Wales.
The 33-year-old former Liverpool and England striker moved to Cardiff after Rafa Benitez called time on Robbie’s Liverpool career at the end of the 2006/7 season.
Fowler, who initially impressed at Cardiff, scoring 6 goals in sixteen appearances, ended up having a frustrating season in Wales after being hit by injuries at Ninian Park.
He has not played since mid-December due to a hip injury that required surgery in America.
Now back in training, Fowler has reportedly agreed a further year’s contract on a pay-as-you-play deal.
Given his history of hip and knee problems it’s likely that this will be Fowler’s final season in football.
