Manchester United striker won’t face punishment over badge-kissing anitcs: Was he trying to spite Everton?

Wayne Rooney won’t feel the wrath of the FA for his badge-kissing incident over the weekend against former club Everton. With the game in the balance, Rooney was booked for a foul before things really started to go awry.

Rooney was booked for a foul on Mikel Arteta and, with tempers starting to fray, Ferguson hauled the England man off. He responded by kissing his badge, a move which clearly could be regarded as inflammatory at his former club. However, the FA has confirmed it will not be investigating the matter further as referee Alan Wiley saw the incident at the time and had a quiet word with Rooney. (Guardian)

Chalk it up to the high drama, but this is something that has no place in football. Arsenal fans have gotten on Adebayor for doing this, but unlike Rooney, he kissed the badge at the Emirates. The story might sound like the media are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but Rooney knows better than to kiss the badge against his former club.

Do Everton supporters agree that he took the whole situation too far?
