Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is set to be offered the chance to extend his stay with Fulham who are keen sign him for next season following a successful start to his loan move at Craven Cottage.

The 21-year-old Frimpong is a product of the academy at the Emirates Stadium, but has so far made only 16 appearances in an Arsenal shirt since making his debut for the club as a substitute in August 2011.

He was loaned to Premier League Wolves last season only to suffer cruciate knee ligament damage and then had a six-week spell at Charlton in the Championship earlier this season to gain match fitness following his return to action.

With chances limited at Arsenal, the Ghana international midfielder jumped at the chance to move across London to join Fulham for the remainder of the season when the offer came during the January transfer window.

And Fulham boss Martin Jol is now ready to make an offer to Arsenal to keep Frimpong on loan next season despite the young midfielder only having made one appearance since joining the club. Jol has clearly been impressed with Frimpong’s impact on the training pitch.

“He is on loan at the moment and it would be quite expensive to take him (permanently), but if there was an opportunity to take him on loan again, I would probably do that,” Jol told Sportinglife. “It is quite a nice position to be in, to get a loan player you don’t have to pay a transfer fee. It is a good way of doing things.

“Two years ago I saw him and he is the type of player you would like as a manger because he is versatile and he has got this mentality. But he can play as well, he is an Arsenal player. He is one of the few players who has been at Arsenal since a young age.”
