Galatasaray and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba believes Jose Mourinho could return to Stamford Bridge according to BBC Sport.

The Ivorian forward was a key member of the Portuguese boss’ Chelsea squad during his three year reign at the club.

The pair are thought to share a close relationship and go head to head in tonight’s Champions League game when Galatasaray will square off against Mourinho’s current team Real Madrid.

Reports in recent weeks have strongly linked Mourinho with a return to Chelsea. The club are on the lookout for a new manager to replace current interim boss Rafa Benitez.

A host of high profile names have been linked with the post including Fabio Capello, David Moyes and Guus Hiddink.

But the fans’ and bookies’ favourites remains Mourinho. The ‘Special One’ looks certain to leave Real Madrid at the end of the current season. The team have fallen away to bitter rivals Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title while Spanish newspaper Marca reported in January that senior players in the Madrid dressing room had informed the club’s hierarchy that they would be handing in transfer requests should Mourinho remain in charge at the beginning of next season.

Drogba believes Mourinho will be tempted to return to Chelsea to make up for the fact that he failed to win the Champions League with the club.
