Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela has admitted that he could one day return to Arsenal, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old only joined the Spanish side last summer after spending the previous year on loan with them in a successful spell that saw him bag 12 goals in 37 games.

Sociedad were impressed enough to make the deal permanent and already this year he’s scored 13 in 32.

His time at Arsenal was tempestuous to say the least. Six years in North London saw him make just 62 appearances in amidst several loan spells with the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Osasuna and Salamanca as well as Sociedad.

However, seemingly finally settled in Spain, his form has prompted speculation over his former employers activating a buy back clause in his contract which would allow Arsene Wenger to bring him to the Emirates once again.

Vela, aware of the talk, has admitted that a return could be possible, but for the time being he’s happy to help Real in their bid to finish in fourth place and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

“Going back to Arsenal? It could happen at any moment, but I don’t want to think about it,” he said.

“My life is at Real Sociedad, and it is with that shirt that I want to play in the Champions League next season.”
