Chelsea target going nowhere.

Check in to Juventus vs Palermo

Italian side Palermo have claimed that they won’t be letting star midfielder Josip Illcic go anywhere this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old has been the Sicilian side’s most valuable player this year as the club head into four crucial games to save their season as they sit just one place above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

Illcic, a Slovenian international, has been linked with a number of clubs over the recent months and was rumoured to be on the wish list of Chelsea, though last week news broke reporting of a prospective agreement to take the midfield man to Serie A rivals Roma.

However, the club have put a lock down on all transfer talk until the end of the season when their future finally becomes clear. And the club’s sporting director, Giorgio Perenetti, has said that they won’t let him exit the club without putting up a fight.

“Our Palermo players are not for sale –  we made a pact with the guys saying that no-one can talk about these players’ futures until the end of the season,” he told Sky Italia.

“Ilicic is a great player, it is normal to receive requests, but now we are thinking only of survival. Surely our intention is not to disband [the squad].”
