Chalobah could stay if the club win promotion.

Check in to Leicester City vs Watford

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has spoke of his desire to keep a hold of Chelsea loanee Nathaniel Chalobah and admits that promotion from the Championship could go a long way to making that a reality, according to talkSPORT.

The 18-year-old is seen as one of the hottest prospects in the country as he has taken the Championship by storm this season by helping Watford to mount a serious push for promotion.

The club saw their charge for automatic promotion end against Leeds this weekend and they now face a tricky play off tie against Leicester City.

Chalobah will likely play a key role in the upcoming encounters with The Foxes and Zola said that he would love to keep the England under-21 international at Vicarage Road next term, though he admitted that promotion will greatly help that cause.

“If we go up to the Premier League we stand more chance of having him here for a longer period but right now it is impossible to say,” he said.

“It is difficult to know because it depends on the manager who goes to Chelsea and many other things.”

Chalobah has made 38 appearances for The Hornets this season, scoring five goals.
