Marseille’s on loan midfielder Joey Barton has landed himself in trouble again by being handed a two game ban following his Twitter rant over the abilities of PSG centre back Tiago Silva, the Daily Mail reports.

The ban is related to the 30-year-old calling Silva an ‘overweight lady boy’ on the social networking site earlier this year.

‘The National Ethics Committee has handed a two-match suspended ban to Joey Barton for ‘inappropriate comments’ after his tweets about a Paris St Germain player,’ the club said on their official website.

PSG had threatened legal action against the player after his comments had caused anger amongst gay rights activists.

However, the ban has revealed to be a suspended sentence and he will only sit out should he use similar language on the micro blogging network again, meaning that he is free for selection going into the club’s final three games this season.

‘The remarks he made towards Thiago Silva were not homophobic remarks. They were just out of place,’ Ethics committee president Laurent Davenas said.

Barton was later caught on camera insulting the size of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s nose during an encounter between the two sides and he had also attacked David Beckham in the run up to the match.
