Real Madrid have started preparing for life without manager Jose Mourinho, approaching PSG for Carlo Ancelotti, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portuguese coach has been strongly linked with a return to Chelsea, the club he left in 2007 after four successful years. He has gone on to enjoy similar success at Inter Milan and Real, but has fallen out with the fans at the Bernebeu this season.

Chelsea need a new manager next season as current boss Rafael Benitez has only been put in charge temporarily, and despite links to the likes of Manuel Pellegrini and Jurgen Klopp, Mourinho remains Roman Abramovich’s first choice to lead the team at Stamforrd Bridge.

Real Madrid have also been linked with a number of replacements for Mourinho, but look like landing their prime target Ancelotti, the former AC Milan boss who has just won the French Ligue 1 title with PSG.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi is quoted in the French press as saying that officials from Madrid have been in touch with him over Ancelotti, but that he hopes very much to keep the Italian at the club for at least another year.
