Juventus are preparing to miss out on Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and have made an enquiry to Manchester United over the availability of Javier Hernandez, according to the Daily Star.

The Italian giants also look to have been beaten to the signing of Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic by Arsenal, and are determined to add a striker to their ranks this summer.

Antonio Conte’s side won Serie A for a second season in a row, but hope to progress further in the Champions League next year and establish themselves as one of the top clubs in Europe alongside Bayern Munich.

They have also been linked with Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, but Hernandez is supposedly next on their list if they fail to land Higuain. The Mexican could be available this summer after spending much of the season on the bench at Old Trafford, and growing frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

Despite his fleeting appearances, the 24-year-old has an impressive goal-scoring record for the club, and has also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid as they look to replace Radamel Falcao.

Hernandez is not the only unsettled striker at United at the moment, with Wayne Rooney also widely tipped to move away from the club in the upcoming transfer window.
