German manager Ralf Rangnick has played down speculation linking him with the vacant Everton managers job reports Sky Sports.

Rangnick is currently general manager of Red Bull Salzburg in Austria and has the same role at Red Bull Leipzig, who have just been promoted to the third tier of German football.

The former Schalke boss currently has 2 years left on his contract with Red Bull and although he has had an interview with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright, Rangnick has played down reports that he will be moving to Everton.

“I have been made aware of that (a potential move to Everton) and well, you should not take every one of those media reports for granted,” said Rangnick.

Everton chairman Kenwright is known to have been impressed by Rangnick during the interview and despite his comments today, he looks to be in the running for the role.

The Everton managers job will be vacated this summer when David Moyes moves to Manchester United.

He will officially start his new job on the 1st July.

Roberto Martinez of Wigan has been heavily linked to managers job at Everton as has Porto manager Vitor Pereira.

Reports have suggested that they have all had interviews with Kenwright and the race for the Everton hot seat appears to be a three horse race.
