Wayne Bridge has completed his move from Manchester City to Reading on a free transfer according to Goal.com.

The former England left-back had been on loan at Brighton during last season and has now made a permanent move to Reading.

Bridge becomes manager Nigel Atkins first signing this summer as the Royals look to bounce back from relegation and get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The defender has spoken of his enthusiasm in joining Reading and helping them get back into the Premier League.

“I’m delighted to be signing for Reading and excited to be joining a team that is going to be looking for promotion next season,”

The left-back had been the subject of interest from many Championship clubs, including newly relegated QPR.

Boss Harry Redknapp is said to be annoyed that QPR didn’t do enough to sign Bridge and is considering leaving the club because of their failure to sign one of his main transfer targets.

Reading boss Nigel Atkins will be happy to have pipped the likes of QPR to the signing of Bridge, who brings a wealth of experience with him to Madjeski.

Atkins will be looking to make further signings this summer to help him get the Royals back in the Premier League.
