Real Madrid star Cristano Ronaldo is being urged to stay at the club for another 18 months and then make a move back to Manchester United according to the Independent.

United are convinced that Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid but they can’t compete with the financial power of French clubs AS Monaco and Paris St Germain.

Ronaldo’s contract at Real Madrid ends in 2015 and United think that their best chance of signing the Portuguese star is when his contract has run out.

If he were to do that, Ronaldo would be able to claim a huge signing on free from United, possibly around £60 million.

The winger has been unsettled at Madrid for sometime, having said in October that he is unhappy at the club.

This has led to speculation that he could leave this summer and AS Monaco are thought to be preparing an £85 million bid Ronaldo.

United have stayed close to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes and seem convinced that Ronaldo would like to end his career at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid would not want to lose Ronaldo on a free transfer and could look to sell the striker before then in-order to gain the financial incentives of receiving a transfer fee.
