Southampton have leapt to the front of the cue to sign highly rated Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama according to the Sun.

The club also want to sign former Chelsea winger Miroslav Stoch, who currently plays for Fenerbache.

The Saints hope to sign both players for around £15 million as they look to re-in force their midfield for the start of next season.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan have all been interested in Wanyama, who has had a very successful season at Celtic Park, being one of the clubs stand-out performers in their victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.

Now that Southampton have made a bid for Wanyama, the other interested clubs may step up their interest in order to make sure they do not lose out on the midfielder.

For Southampton, signing Wanyama would certainly be a signal to the rest of the Premier League that they intend to move up the table fast following a successful first season back in the top flight.

Celtic signed Wanyama for a relative bargin, buying him for £900,000 from Belgian club Beerschot in July 2011.

He has since become one of the clubs top performers and the Scottish champions will hope he doesn’t leave.
