Fenerbache star lays into Chelsea the billionaire brats

by Dexter on April 7th, 2008 2 comments

Fenerbache’s Brazilian star Deivid who scored the winner for the Turks in Istanbul last week against Chelsea – now claims that the Kings Road cash guzzlers may have bulging bags of dosh but that will never guarantee them a strong side.
Deivid said:

“In football, names and money don’t win games. You have to go out there and play, 11 against 11. Money buys players, but doesn’t build teams. We will play until the death and the better side on that specific night will be in the semi-finals.” (The Sun)

Will the lowly Turkish paupers beat the Kings Road billionaire brats?

Wasn’t Avram Grant meant to improve Chelsea?

by Dexter on April 4th, 2008 3 comments

Fenerbache’s ex-Chelsea striker stuck his boot in after his side beat the Stamford Bridge fat cats in Istanbul – the Serb, clearly a devotee of ‘the Special One” claimed that:

“Chelsea without Mourinho are not the same. Under him, they were a machine. There were no surprises, no mistakes. Everything worked fantastically. Now they have ups and downs. We’ve watched the last couple of games and against Middlesbrough and Sunderland they made four or five mistakes.

“There’s not the same spirit in the team any more. There are rows at training. It’s not the machine it used to be. You can see that something is not working. If [Frank] Lampard goes out of the game after 75 minutes it means something is wrong. If Mourinho had been in charge of this match of course it would’ve been different. He is a very different coach.”

Hang on a minute – wasn’t Avram meant to improve Chelsea? Wasn’t the glum Israeli meant to bring glitz, glamour, and razzmatazz? Right now Chelsea are as avant garde as a plastic poncho at a rainy Theme Park.

Avram Grant isn’t fit to wipe Mourinho’s rear end

by Dexter on April 1st, 2008 3 comments

Try and brush aside the fact that he now aspires to be a monk, and have a look at ex-Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman’s comments about Avram Grant. Kezman is still in contact with some of the Stamford Bridge players and claims that the word on the street is that things are much worse under Grant than they ever were under the Special One (no surprises there). Kezman said:

“The manager that they have now does not have Mourinho’s qualities. When Mourinho was there, Chelsea was like a machine. Everything ran like clockwork.

“Now, talking to old friends at the club, I understand it’s not so good. There are rows on the training pitch, the kind of problems that never would have happened when Mourinho was in charge. Chelsea are still a strong team. Just look at their position in the league. But it is a good time to play them.”

In all probability Kezman is doing all this to rile up his Stamford Bridge counterparts when his new side, Fenerbache, set to face them in the Champions League this week. Sorry Mateja, unless Avram tries his “4-4-1″ routine again, your boys don’t have a hope.
