Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco Van Ginkel according to the Metro.

The 20 year old flair player enjoyed a great season in the Eredivisie last term and then impressed many with his displays at the European Under 21 Championship finals, which led to a great deal of interest in acquiring his services, with the Blues seemingly leading the chase.

Now the player’s agent has revealed that he has held positive talks with Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho, stating;

‘I have spoken to Jose Mourinho and there have been very serious talks about a deal,’

Van Ginkel, who has represented Vitesse since the age of seven, had a standout season in the Eredivisie, scoring eight and providing another eight assists as his side secured their best domestic finish since 1998.

Mourinho has already brought in German youngster Andre Schurrle in an £18m deal and is being linked with a myriad of other targets and is sure to invest in new additions so as to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from interim boss Rafa Benitez this summer.
