Anfield side hope to bring in Danish international.
Liverpool are reportedly leading the chase to sign Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen according to the Daily Star.
The 21 year old Danish international has been strongly linked with a move away from his Amsterdam club and the likes of Tottenham and Everton are both said to be keen on acquiring the playmaker, who has helped Ajax to three successive Eredivisie titles.
Eriksen has started the current season well and is a constant source of goals and assists, the type of creative central midfielder Brendan Rodgers may well see as a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard.
Having seemingly failed in attempts to bring in Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who opted to join Borussia Dortmund, and Brazilian Willian, who appears set to join Chelsea, Rodgers could well feel that addition of another goal creative midfielder could be what his side needs in order to effectively challenge for that all important top four spot.
Eriksen has amassed 161 appearances for Ajax and 37 national team caps and is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football.
