David Moyes has confirmed that Manchester United are making progress in talks over a new contract for highly-rated youngster Adnan Januzaj, according to the club’s official website.

The 18-year-old is just on the fringes of the United first team at the moment, and will be hoping to make an impact for the Red Devils this season, though his potential has also attracted attention from rivals Manchester City.

With just one senior appearance to his name for the club, Januzaj may feel justified in considering his future, particularly with United being linked with a host of attacking midfielders throughout the summer, with more rumours likely to come when the transfer window re-opens in January as well.

However, Moyes has been full of praise for Januzaj in the past, and speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Scot revealed that talks were progressing with the young Belgian over a new deal for him at Old Trafford.

Although an agreement is yet to be struck, Moyes said that there could be news soon and that the press would be kept fully informed.

“As far as I know, things are moving along,” he said. “As soon as we get the news, we will give it to you.”

Januzaj started his youth career with Anderlecht before moving to United in 2011.
