Man United are ready to make a second attempt to land Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao according to the Daily Star.

David Moyes failed with deadline day move to bring in the 25 year old on a loan switch and will look to land the Portuguese international in January as he looks to improve on his current left-sided options.

Coentrao is behind Marcelo in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order and may well be keen on a fresh challenge having started just two of Real Madrid’s seven La Liga fixtures thus far this term.

By all accounts Moyes is not all that impressed with back-up left-back Alexander Buttner and given that Patrice Evra is 32 years of age there is scope for a long term replacement for the French veteran.

Real Madrid spent £25m to sign Coentrao back in the summer of 2011 but the former Benfica man has never come close to justifying that price-tag and as such the Spanish giants would presumably be ready to accept a fair bit less than the fee they forked out for the wide-man.
