Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have beaten Tottenham to the coveted signature of in-demand Dinamo Zagreb attacking starlet Alen Halilovic, according to reports by Italian outlet Sport Mediaset.

The north London club had been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Croatia international for some time now, and even saw an offer reportedly worth £10m for the 17-year-0ld wonderkid rejected by his club back in the summer transfer window.

However, it was also thought that the north London club were readying a new and improved bid for the attacking midfield player for when the winter transfer window finally opened again for business for the year in January.

That new offer was said to be worth £17m, which is £4m more than the value of the release clause in Halilovic’s current contract with the Croatian giants, which now only runs until June 30 2014.

But if reports in Italy are to be believed, it appears as though the Champions League holders have now stolen a march on their rivals from White Hart Lane in the race to land Halilovic, with the Bavarians set to lure the Croat to the Allianz Arena as soon as the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
