Check in to Arsenal vs Liverpool

Liverpool are lining up an ambitious attempt to sign AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy as Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers looks to make the most of the Italian international’s uncertain future at the San Siro side.

The Daily Star report that the Merseyside club will look to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham to capture the 20 year old, who has been something of a bit part player this term.

El Shaarawy finished last season as the club’s top scorer, netting 19 goals in all competitions, but the January arrival of Mario Balotelli and the summer signing of Alessandro Matri from Juventus, have left the impressive youngster out in the cold.

No doubt El Shaarawy will be frustrated at the treatment he has received from the club given his fine form last term, with AC Milan handing the striker just one start in all competitions this season and that lack of first team action could negatively affect the player’s role in the Italian national team set-up with the 2014 World Cup finals fast approaching.

Liverpool’s owners are keen to target youthful additions and may see the signing of El Shaarawy as a wise investment though this source claims it will take an offer of at least £25m to tempt the Serie A to sell.

Liverpool have found goals easy enough to come by this season with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez both in red hot form so one may discern from the club’s interest that the Uruguayan may well be on his way to the Anfield exit?
